Turin, wonderful inspiring Turin

No secret: I love Italy. I love Turin. Like many other italian cities Turin has a beautiful architecture, art, the charming italian atomosphere, life, people and culture, fabulous food and drinks, the country living quite close and also Turin has a short way to the alpes and it  feels a bit untouched...like traveling some decades back in time. I love it!

The dream of Mamma Mia - Pythagorion

I visited Pythagorion in May, while there where few tourists. I experienced a calm and beautiful little town with a long harbour of fishing boats, lots of restaurants, colorful flowers, charming side streets with hidden mamma mia kind of places and lovely people.

Kokkari, on the greek island Samos

The small, quiet and very charming fishing village

I havent travelled a lot in Greece, but 2018 should give me two visit to the Samos island. In May Pythagorion and in August Kokkari -both two fishing villages with nice people, genuine and beautiful surroundings. I was quite charmed by the friendly atmoshphere, the tranquility, the very green water, the wonderful historical houses, the generous food and the strong, clear colors. I have just opened the Greece book and I cant wait to explore more.

In Kokkari you will find an endless beach with pebble stones, sunbeds, high turquoise waves and lots of greek restaurants. Here the octopus is drying in a tree outside the restaurant, where you also may find some natural shadow to read a book or eat the greek version of tapas: mezé. Wherever you are walking in Kokkari, you may see the green sea and smell food. It suits me very well!

The most idyllic spot in Kokkari is in the end of the long beach. Here is the tiny bay for the fishng boats and among a couple of restaurants, you will find the most charming group of houses. The picture is so cute it almost hurts. Its possible to rent some of those houses on Airbnb or to stay in the small hotel Lemos. We ate dinner at the italian family restaurant Moscato, having limoncello with prosecco and pasta with seafood. the surroundings couldnt have been nicer!

In the other end of Kokkari there are more restaurants along the long pier. The nightlife here is a bit more hectic (just a bit, Kokkari is a really quiet place) but we actually found it most perfect in the morning. Idyllic, calm and the best greek yoghurt with honey, walnuts and fresh fruit I ever had. A perfect way to start the day, before walking to the end of the pier finding an another beach. Less wavy and still calm -you wont have trouble finding sunbeds in Kokkari. If you are thirsty or hungry, there is a short way to the fantastic beach bar belonging to Hotel Sunrise. A few more steps and you will have a fantastic view and more food at the restaurant called Basilico. We had woodovven pizza at a long table under the pergola.

Walking back to the centre (it only takes a couple of minutes), walk further upwards. Its such a lovely atmosphere and view from here, nice houses, colorful scooters passing by, clothes drying outside windows, the smell of figs... You will also pass the small and nice hotel Cattleya. Next time I will stay there -because Im definatley going back!
