The people, the outfits, the food (of course!), the life, the history, the atomsphere, the art, the interiors, the shops, the streets. I can continue for ever. I love Paris!
Some people say I look french and that´s completely fine. I take it as a huge compliment! I like to believe that some french sailor passed by the norwegian coast a hundred years ago and left some genes there. My father looks totally like a french or italian. Just mentioning.
If I could, I would go to France once a month. It´s more likely to make it once a year.
On my previous Paris trip, I brought my youngest daughter. I always take the children on a trip when they are 10, Hennie chose Paris (clever girl!). Since it was her first time, we had to see the typical places, like Champs Elysées, the Eiffel tower, Notre Dame, Louvre, the Latin quarter, Galeries Lafayette on Boulevard Haussmann and the Pompidou center.
I especially like the Marais district, so the rest of the time we spent in this area. Since she travelled with me, we had quite much to eat and we tested out many marvelous french bistros, cafés and patisseries.
Our hotel, La Fabric, was situated between la République and la Bastille and it was earlier an industrial area. Now you´ll find rustic buildings filled up with lovely restaurants and bars. The hotel is very cool and trendy, but still it has a laid-back and calm atmosphere. The best thing about the hotel, is however, the surroundings. Here you will find everything Marais can offer within a walking distance (but bring good shoes, you´ll be walking a lot in Paris!). The shop and café Merci Merci is especially worth a visit! Lot´s of fun!
I think the main thing about visiting this beautiful city, is to walk around and look at buildings, people, art, feel the life and sit down at a street café, stroll in a park and see places like Place de Vosges ... and of course walk into some shops from heaven (and probably come out of it again with two more shopping bags than you expected).
Get inspired, be classy and live like the Parisians. And please, bring some of it back home! I think all the world and all people needs a touch of Paris…
and if you are searching shops: just walk around in Marais or Saint Germain and you will find lots of small, wonderful boutiques.
A bientôt, Paris!
